Way back in the Spring, I discovered a lovely, Swedish couple who pot. I am unsure if it was their mutual love of clay that brought them together or this is a charming coincidence, however the lovely Bertil and Siv (here is Siv at her wheel) create stunning art pottery and I have coveted their work all year. They kindly agreed to make me the 'Tear Drop' bowl, in a myriad of delicious glazes and I am blissfully happy with the results. You can see the spirals in the clay from the potter's wheel and every single piece is slightly different, so the touch of the hand is apparent; someone got up one morning and made me something, glazed and fired it, wrapped it in newspaper and sent it on an international journey. There is a romance to it.
I have started my personal collection with five pieces, which I have arranged like the petals of a flower and they sit on my table looked fetching when not in use. I find small bowls very useful for serving condiments like mustard, mayonnaise and chutney as well as for nibbles like nuts and olives and these are most decorative, so it's huge thanks to the skilful Swedes!
