Celestial Patchouli - I had found nothing to rival Ramon Monegal's 'Mon Patchouli' until now. This is a slice of heaven and incredibly clever, with coriander seeds at the top dancing across Turkish roses and creamy orris which, in turn, recline on a dense pillow of cinnamon bark, cypriol( my favourite!), leather and a magnificent patchouli.

Fragrance House
The most fantastic collection of sophisticated and elegant fragrances crossed my desk in February. To be brutally honest, I am sent new perfumes every single week and it is rare for any of them to stop me in my tracks. In this case however, every single scent in the collection had me writhing and gasping for appreciative adjectives! Innovative, nuanced, exciting and so very original, I immediately called 'Sana Jardin' in Paris to purchase the whole range. Sadly Covid got in the way, but this week we took delivery of our first bottles and I shall unveil them for you now!
Firstly, Sana Jardin is a socially conscious, luxury fragrance house. They are lovely people with a vision to use clean and sustainable perfume as a vehicle for social impact and the economic empowerment of women. Cleverly, the collection is built on the principles of a circular economy with a business model that enables the women in their supply chain to become micro-entrepreneurs by up-cycling waste products from perfume production.
The female flower-pickers, from the rural regions of Morocco, normally only work during the limited harvest periods, however Sana Jardin donates the bi-product of the jasmine, orange blossom and rose flowers (after the essential oils have been extracted) and then helps the women up-cycle the floral 'waste' and manufacture Floral Waters and Scented Candles under their own co-operative! They then receive 100% of the proceeds of these sales and I think that this is genius and a fantastic initiative - the owner, Amy Christiansen, is to be congratulated!
