This is a thrilling fragrance using two notes at opposite ends of the olfactory spectrum. Bergamot, as many will know, is an orange - extremely sour so not usually eaten (although it does make wonderful marmalade!) - that is thought to be a hybrid of the lemon and bitter orange. Oil from the peel is one of the most popular notes in perfumery - it is more sophisticated than standard, citrus notes and can be used to support others in the structure. It is bright, lively and almost sparkling.
Amber, in perfumery, is again a concept not an ingredient, and a blanket term to cover warm, resinous smells, so as you can imagine, the combination of warm and sparkling is irresistible!
At the top, lemon, clementine and bergamot, dance across the nose, pirouetting into ylang ylang, geranium and coriander which are fresh and slightly spiced. The base here is spectacular and means that this fragrance, in particular, has longevity. Patchouli, amber, cedar and vetiver is a classic combination (usually in gentlemen's scents), and this will work well across the seasons as it possesses both fire and sunshine.
