We discovered the work of this Latvian Pottery in Stockholm - it was my favourite find of the trip as the stunning combination of a shiny, deep glaze on the interior of the bowls with the classic, soft, terracotta on the outside, reminded me of a Vermeer painting!
Latvian Pottery is the country's oldest artform and dates back to the neolithic period (about 10,000 years ago!). This collection is made entirely by hand at a family-run pottery employing 15 highly skilled potters. It echoes the Latvian tradition of making pots completely free from painted design but using bold, plain glazes to do the talking instead.
Despite this remarkable heritage, the collection looks sleek and contemporary, with the smaller bowls given a clever and captivating 'curve' at the rim.
Choose from 'Curved Bowl' or the larger Salad/Pasta/Fruit Bowl!
The glazes are outstanding and make this collection unique. Choose from Grass Green, Moss Green, White or a hypnotising Blue/Grey that is the colour of the sea in moonlight!
