These stunning lamps are made by Master Glass-Blowers in Syria! I discovered them in Paris and think that not only are they spectacularly beautiful, but each sale will help a group of talented artisans whose livelihood has been decimated by war. The Abu Ahmed Glassworks is situated in an area just outside Damascus that was heavily bombed - the neighbouring silk brocade factory was razed to the ground. The family business employs ten people that support ten families and they use a traditional oven to recycle glass that has been recovered from Europe!
I have bought the amber /clear glass lamp myself and it looks incredible - extremely modern but with a slightly space-age 1960's feel.
These lamps can be used on the table and also possess an internal hook so can be suspended and used as a pendant should one prefer.
Colours are stunning - bright pink, orange, amber, green, turquoise, clear, mulberry, teal....... and if we don't have it, we can probably make it so just let us know!!!
