Last w/e the GD and I cooked twice from the Green Roasting Tin (still my favourite recipe book ever) and we have now mastered almost every dish so I thought that I would look for another source of culinary inspiration. It came from a lovely, local customer who is a professional test-chef for publishers. The fact that publishers ensure that the timings etc of every recipe in their books is tested by a third party is most reassuring and it must be one of the most wonderful jobs in the world to have!!! I asked her to recommend a book that she had worked on and she instantly suggested 'Rebel Recipes' by Niki Webster who blogs about Vegan Food most of which is naturally gluten-free so perfect for the Vegan GD and gluten intolerant me! I only started using this week and I am a huge fan already as the dishes are healthy, exciting, full of flavour and, most importantly, pretty simple as I get turned off by a huge list of ingredients or being chained to the oven for hours. Niki has got the balance just right and I am looking forward to taking the journey with her so my thanks to our lovely customer and her ace recommendation. I have already conjured 'sticky tamarind potatoes' soooo good, 'smoky lentils and harissa roast cauliflower with aubergine (yum!) and, the piece de resistance, 'tomato curry, roast veg and turmeric hummus - now my tummy is rumbling.
