Fragrance House
The house of Rancé has a long and distinguished history. Dating back to the early 17th century, the Rancé family produced exquisitely scented accessories beloved by French nobility. The high esteem in which the family was held meant that when Napoleon eventually proclaimed himself emperor, he called for François Rancé to be his personal perfumer. It was during this time that François created his most famous composition in honour of the dictator, ‘Le Vainqueur’, in 1795. Today, the house remains a family owned business that is committed to preserving the distinguished history of its fragrances, and Roullier White is proud to continue the legacy of this illustrious house.
