My latest eureka moment of discovery came last week when I unearthed the most breath-taking bumbershoots on the planet! They are French and while they are, sadly, not from Cherbourg(!) they are from Paris, the epicentre of style and now, it appears, structural design! For these are Micro-Umbrellas and the smallest in the world when folded at just 17.5cm (barely bigger than a mobile phone), which will fit into the pocket or any bag - please measure, it is tiny!
However, fear not, for when they are unfurled the canopy diameter is a very large 84cm, which is large enough to keep the rain off even the widest of shoulders! Now we come to strength and weight! The latter is 220g which is the weight of an adult hamster (you didn't know that?) and I'm sure we can all effortlessly accommodate a hamster in our pocket! And let me tell you about the structure; fibreglass ribs with carbon reinforcements on a titanium handle - so this is STRONG and the microfibre fabric has a UV protection of 50, which means that you can use it as a parasol in the summer!
