The object of my affection this year is a candlestick - a 'Venetian Knot' candlestick to be precise, which resembles a coil of rope standing erect, rather like the Indian rope trick. I thought that my eyes had deceived me as these twists of glass are huge - standing 42cm from the base and ending in asymmetric crowns that hold the candles high in the air. There are very few Master Glassmakers in the world with the skill to twist molten glass 360 degrees and achieve such magnificence but these are made by Venetian Master Glassmakers - the finest in the world.

These beauties are available in rich amber or green and are opulent enough to hold their own on an alter in an ancient palazzo or in the finest drawing rooms on the planet! However, they will be coming home with me to a modest cottage in Sussex, simply because a LOVE them!!
