Dedicated to the thistle, 'Carduus' uses chamomile and majoram tea to capture the illusive green notes of a thistle that is actually native to Africa. This is a dry, herb-garden of a fragrance, delicate and complex. The dark green of clary sage, myrtle and hart's-tongue - I would place this firmly in the fougère fragrance family - is optimistic without being boisterous and quite lovely.
Impression: Chamomile, Bengal Pepper, Honey, Clary Sage, Sea-holly, Marjoram Tea, Myrtle, Rose Absolute, Vetch, Clove Bud, Hart’s Tongue
Fade: Tuberose, Musk-thistle, Heliotrope, Tormentil, Mahogany, Cocoa Absolute, Tobacco, Meum, Deertongue, Cherrywood
Mr Mccall belongs to this school of thought. He is, by fragrance standards, an enfant terrible and his work for Jorum Studio is wildly unfettered, conjuring a plethora of naturalistic landscapes, both epic and distilled - he is, for me, an olfactory Turner with a twist!
