Whilst I am always on the hunt for the new and exciting there are some designs that are eternal and I like to bring back once a year purely because their design pedigree and aesthetic are perfection. The artist Antonino Sciortino is a case in point; he works exclusively with iron which is then powder-coated and his collection is sculptural and iconic. If we had the space I would stock everything that he designs however this A/W I am repeating his gorgeous bowls in numerous shades and shapes. Whilst handsome enough to stand alone as an art-piece, they are particularly marvellous for fruit as the skeletal structure allows air to circulate, which is essential for bananas and softer fruit, plus the lovely smells radiate more freely! I own his very first design which is a bowl on a stand which towers over a table and is a great centrepiece. I use it for fruit usually however it is versatile and I weave holly and ivy through it at Christmas and load it with tangerines and walnuts, it's lovely for easter eggs and I once assembled a rather spectacular breadbasket using a coloured napkin as a lining and 4 different kinds of bread roll.
