The most popular and celebrated fragrance from the monks of Caldey Island, Island Lavender Water emphasises the exquisite and highly prized Caldey lavender that grows in abundance on the island. Internationally celebrated, Luca Turin in his book ‘Perfumes: The Guide’ describes Island Lavender Water as “simply the best lavender soliflore on Earth”. A wonderfully fresh and bright lavender fragrance resting on a base of warm musk that adds delightful contrast to the composition, this is a scent that simply has to be experienced!

In 1929, Cistertian monks from Scourmont Abbey in Belgium made their way to Caldey island; a tiny, pastoral landmass off the coast of south west Wales. Finding an abundance of wonderfully fragrant wildflowers, particularly a profusion of wild lavender, in the 1950s the monks began selling bunches of Caldey lavender to tourists who visited the island. The popularity of these bouquets gave the monks the idea of creating fragrances from these wonderful ingredients, and the popularity of their fragrances convinced the monks to begin operating on a more commercial scale. With the establishment of the Caldey Island perfume brand the house now produces some of the finest artisanal scents in the world, and we at Roullier White are delighted to bring these skilfully blended fragrances to our customers.
