We have a wonderful friend who makes authentic copies of historic glass for us and I recently commission this 18th century decanter for myself.
It is, as you can see, a footed claret decanter made entirely by hand and utterly exquisite. I am not such a purist as to use purely for red wine, I intend to use it as often as possible so sherry and port this Christmas etc I have purchased two so have wiggle room. They look incredibly fine and delicate but are, in the flesh , quite robust.
We only have 6 of these as it was a one-off commission so my apologies if they have gone - I just wanted to share as it is amazing how something that was designed almost 400 years ago can still look contemporary!
