Je Reviens by the House of Worth, Paris - 30 ml parfum

Strangely the story of Haute Couture begans with an Englishman, Charles Frederick Worth. Having rejected the family tradition of practicing law, Worth went instead into trade working for London based textile merchants. Moving to Paris in 1845 to work with leading textile company Gagelin, Worth opened a small dressmaking department showcasing his new employer's fabrics.  This venture was timely as it coincided with Napoleon III's grand vision for both Paris and France, changes that revitalized the French economy and made Paris into a showpiece of Europe. The demand for luxury goods, including textiles and fashionable dress, reached levels that had not been seen since before the French Revolution.

Propelled by demand Worth went on to establish the House of Worth in 1858, it was couture's first fashion house,  combined the classic with innovation and, in creating the first luxury brand, became a worldwide fashion dictator dressing major celebrities of the day. Beyond his revolutionary designs including reinforced petticoats Charles Frederick Worth is credited with inventing the fashion show. It was his idea to show his models on live mannequins to his customers, but perhaps his most important legacy was to present 4 collections each year, thereby inventing the fashion seasons. He also founded the 'Chambre de la Couture Parisienne' in 1868, which devised the specific criteria a fashion designer needs to fulfill in order to be allowed to call himself a 'Couturier'. In 1895 when Worth died, his two sons Gaston and Jean-Philippe Worth took over running the house. In turn Gaston's sons Jean-Charles and Jacques joined the company in around 1910. Jean-Philippe's son Jacques Worth decided to introduce perfumes in 1922. The perfume 'Je Reviens' ('I will return'), which was launched in 1932, Worth was the first fashion house to launch a fragrance and Je Reviens is still now one of the most famous French perfumes in history.

Roullier White is proud to present Je Reviens. The fragrance is a an updated version of the original fragrance, a product of the creative talents of Worth’s grandson, Jacques and the perfumer Maurice Blanchet.
