Our gently scented rose hand cream is easily absorbed by the skin to leave your hands soft and supple. The moisturising properties are enhanced by the presence of glycerine, which is a moisture attracting humectant.
Roses have been used in cosmetics since the earliest times. In Ancient Greece, Galen combined rose water with beeswax to produce the first moisturising creams. In medieval times, rose petals were being boiled with sugar and water to produce a syrup valued for its astringent and tonic properties.
A popular remedy dating from the seventeenth century was 'Mel Rosa'. Made by combining rose water with honey, it was well known for its emollient effects on the skin. Mindful of this, Dr. Dulcamara includes honey (Mel) as an ingredient in his 'Windsor Rose' hand cream.
Each porcelain pot is about 10cm (4 inches) across and contains 70g (two and a half fluid ounces) of hand cream. The pot comes packed in a navy blue box.
